2007 Fire & Ice Festival in Lititz

The mid-winter four-day event of this year's second annual Fire & Ice Festival in Lititz, Pa,

featured the "Fire" of a chili cook-off and the "Ice" of an ice sculpture display.

Thirty four ice sculptures lined Main Street, including an angel, baseball player, golfer, diamond ring, dolphin, Tinkerbell, Warwick Warrior, masquerade masks, start, moon, a newspaper delivery boy, and, our favorite, of course, The Incredible Edible Egg (pictured below) of a hand holding an egg.

Things warmed up considerably on Saturday with the "Fire" portion of the festival.  Some 1,000 persons sampled 21 different kinds of chili at "Chili Cook-Off" held at the Lititz Elementary School.  Our favorite, of course, was the Sauder's chili omelet!

The crowd included lots of Lititz people, but many out-of-towners as well, coming from New Jersey, Philadelphia, Maryland, and Delaware. Other foods were also available at the street fair, including hot soup, crabcake sandwiches, beef barbecue, funnel cake, apple cider, hot dogs, and popcorn.  There was also a free concert by Brian Neal, and music filled the street while line dancers joined in the fun.
